Speaking of serpents....Consider Heracles and Thor.

Heracles's claim to fame was 12 labors he performed.
He defeated a lion with impenetrable skin, a hydra (a multi headed sea serpent)...

Thor was fated to defeat the world serpent (Giant snake wraps itself around the world but it's supposed to take Thor down with it.)

Norse had Garmr the hell hound... and the Greek's had Cerberus.

But both did love fight giants.

Religions do love to steal stories from each other!
