Iirc it's more like we owe them a debt for preserving mathematics and science during a period of history when almost everything from ancient civilization had been lost, not for inventing it. Islam isn't that old of a religion, I think it's more accurate to credit that preservation of knowledge to pre-islamic arabs. Islam, as a religion, quickly outlawed many of those scientific pursuits once it became powerful. Math and science were quickly made haram once they could.

There's little difference between the behavior of Evangelical Conservative Christians and the Islamic Fundamentalists they openly despise
