It's worth every fucking penny to put Russian bodies in the ground, especially without exposing US troops directly.

If we get to break off a large piece of the former Russian sphere in Ukraine, and add it to our sphere of influence, all the better.

I would love it if we would stop spending all our money on the military and go back to some form of isolationism, sticking to our own hemisphere, and even to find a way to resolve the Taiwan issue peacefully. But the fact of the matter is, that's not going to happen. The US constitution and our political system in general are too deeply flawed for meaningful reform, we don't really have control over our own government or the power to draw down our outrageous military. So we might as well use it intelligently, and arming Ukraine is quite possibly the single greatest and most efficient opportunity to badly fuck over a major, hated geopolitical rival in our history as a country. Additionally, the unfortunate reality of the modern global economy is that our access to the natural resources that fuel our economy depends on our ability to swing our dick, and retreating into timid isolationism would have tremendous long term negative effects on our economy and standard of living, as China and other rivals swing their dicks to secure resources for themselves.

Bending over and letting Putin conquer Ukraine would have shown China that we have no resolve and no capability to defend our sphere of influence. Instead, we have put the scare into China to an incredible degree, demonstrating the power of our intelligence network, Western resolve to weather painful embargoes, and our several generation old weapons, and we have resurrected a crumbling alliance in NATO that is vital as a counterbalance to China. Let's put it this way; I don't want to tangle with China, but if we're going to, we really need NATO to be solid and as strong as possible.

Trump, and by extension all his MAGA fanboys, are directly working against the strategic interests of the United States by trying to weaken NATO and bend over for Putin.
