PVP doesn't work that way. When people fuck in a PUG or are known tards, they will be PK'd.

There will be griefers that don't give a fuck... it doesn't work the way it does on blue. I can't imagine a random group of people forming together to XP, especially with the type of people we deal with.

Even as recent as a box like Locked and Loaded were "random people" grouping together to xp. Slow xp will only enforce that sense of camaraderie because if you want to act like an incessant cunt at every turn, nobody will group with you any more thus no xp unless you can solo effectively (necro, mage, bard etc)

An anti PK guild on P99 will be destroyed very quickly, mark my words. If there is one, I'll play just to grief them. I can think of a handful of others that would do that same. The true bluebies won't last.

An anti PK guild is exactly the counter-balance any PVP server needs. Without the harsh reality of slow xp and some sort of hand of justice, people remain unchecked and the box turns into a shithole of trainers, corpse campers, griefers and general asshats. That's not PVP - anyone that argues for such behavior on a PVP box is a fucking EQEmu-pvp-era scrub.

You also haven't come up with a solution to my question.... if the server has been out for a weeks or even a few months, what does a total newbie do with no gear that doesn't play a solo class. The population would have to be 200+ minimum for this to work and I still don't see that new person with no groups to level with lasting long with horrible XP and immediate grief upon the appropriate level.

No solution needs to be presented because I don't agree that it will be a problem. Project 1999 doesn't have this issue. With a stable server that actually takes effort to level on, there will always be an influx of new players grouped with the casual players that just don't have the time to power game to 50 like the rest of us basement dwellers. Again, this requires a counter-balance to griefing as I previously stated, else yes, if the rules of R99 enable PVP at 7+ no level ranges and people get griefed immediately, they will probably quit. Fortunately there are people like myself that want to see the server succeed and will be helping those new players as well though.

I don't see the issue with 2 boxing, anyone can level this way and it it puts them at a disadvantage in PvP. The best PvPer is going to run around with full buffs anyway...

Enabling two boxing, for one, does not recreate a classic experience. Most people had shitty computers that were running on shitty dialup, thus it's pretty safe to assume 90%+ of the population was running one box. On top of this, enabling 2 boxing FORCES people to 2 box. It removes the need to interact with each other to level. Someone like yourself that claims he's going to go out of his way to grief an anti-PK guild off the server, would probably not understand the need for interaction among players.

The Project 1999 model worked for a reason. Don't try to fuck with it imo.
