DEFINITELY don't suggest to a new player the baby-town-frolicks easy road, because I guarantee this will make them a bad player at the high-end game. Also don't worry too much about helping the player rush to the highest levels .. release of the Velious expansion hasn't even been announced for P99 yet, so it's not like there is any reason to be in a hurry about getting to max-level. For the greatest ease-of-play and access to the EQ world for a total EQ noob, I would definitely suggest a druid. They get SoW, invis, levitate, ports, and can charm so there is plenty of variety for the explorer as well as the XP'er!
