he can't keep it, not if NATO wants to save face. Forget about nukes. Nukes are a saber rattle to the chronically terrified, people who are gonna be scared regardless of what goes on in the world, thats who the nuclear sabre rattling is aimed at.
Anyone with half a brain understands that M.A.D. (mutually assured destruction) is still as effective a deterrent as it was during the entire cold war.
Putin isn't stupid or insane, if you ever think you're enemy is stupid or insane, then you've already lost. Putin knows that if he so much as primes a nuclear missile, then 5,000 other missiles are gonna be primed to go. all the nuke talk is entirely for the media.
Not to over simplify, like any major conflict, this is super complicated and there are machinations in play that civilians like us will never know about or understand.
one thing that is very easy to understand is that ANYONE who uses a nuclear weapon, will no longer have a country.
It is in any leaders' best interest, to NOT use a nuclear weapon, if they intend to remain the leader, or intend to remain being a nation altogether.
