It's less specific commentary on him in particular, and more my experience in software development in gneral. I don't actually know enough of what it was like to work under Aradune to say anything specifically about him.
However, I believe
anyone at the top is "overrated": they are only barely more responsible for the final product than the tons of other people working on it, and often enough the people at the top's contribution was to make things worse, not better.
