1) "Close to 50" is not close to ready to join a raiding guild. You need about 4-5 level 60's. Hope this helps.

2) Since you mentioned slave owners in the 1800's I think the first in game tell you send should be to an officer of <Kittens Who Say Meow> named Ngar. N-G-A-R. Four letters.

If you don't see this character on in game its easy to lookup on discord as well. Ngar is a UN speaker for Kittens.

3) And I'm sure Kittens will be happy to recruit you even at level 50. (Especially if its a druid. And needs an epic.) Because they're a mostly casual but sometimes pretend to raid guild.

So this could be the perfect place for you to go to where you could literally do anything you want from there.

1) You could lvl to 60 a couple times with kittens and then reevaluate where else you'd like to bounce to based off of the super accurate gossip Kittens constantly share amoungst themselves about all the actual raid guilds.

or

2) I'm sure you could just stop leveling and just show up as a level 50 to whatever coordinated events they 'offer.' Just be consistent with reminders about needing an epic. And have fun!
I actually have a 50+ Necro and Cleric. Necro was boring and felt like playing game on easy mode. Rerolled a gnome cleric. Solo’d til level 50 and realized that a lack of Undead mobs in Kunark and beyond was going to severely limit my ability to play the game so I rerolled again with this shaman.

I never really said I wanted to join a raid guild, but I’ve had several strangers approach me asking if I wanted to join their guild. (This never happened on my Cleric, I kept /anon on at all times because people would ask me to stop what I was doing and run 4 zones away and wade through a dungeon to 50% Rez them, no joke).

And part of me is like, man, maybe I should join a guild. It gets lonely playing this game for days at a time without a single conversation, but then I’m also hesitant / cautious about joining a guild and not enjoying it or finding out a significant portion of the server will blacklist me for my affiliation.

It’s a real concern because I don’t know any of the guild lore on blue. On Green I could write an essay about why I like and dislike certain guilds.
