The passage is referring to Babylon reaping what it has sown and The Edomites getting the same treatment from Babylon that Jerusalem just received. It references here:

The Edomites were rejoicing and cheering Babylon on as they destroyed Jerusalem. "Rase it, Rase it, even to the foundation thereof"

So what David is saying to The Edomites is if you put your trust in Babylon they are going to do to you what they just did to us "dash babies on rocks"

The line you are referring to is what had just been done to them. To their children by The Babylonians and the writer, in his grief, is telling the Edomites to expect the same treatment by The Babylonians.

It would be like The Nazis during The Holocaust asking Jews to sing happy songs after murdering millions of their kin. We're talking about The Human Condition in the wake of unspeakable grief and atrocity and how humans react to such traumatic events. This passage would be like the Jews telling Nazi Collaborators (who were Jews) that they are going to do the same exact thing to them. You may cheer now, but you will not be spared and they weren't in most cases.

Hilariously ironic given what you are trying to justify in regards to abortion. (No limits and dismemberment up to the moment of birth). What this passage is really doing is exposing the hypocrisy of people like you that cheer on abortion. You justify baby killing on the alter of abortion like it has some special status, yet if your own child was murdered by some creep how would you feel? Would you cheer on the murder of your own child like you do abortion?

Nice self own Sad Botten.

There's your lesson for the day
A. Hilarious how you admit there were such atrocities. You have to remember the Bible is F-I-C-T-I-O-N with partial truths about history. So if the atrocities are being recorded then it was very very common practice regardless of your *interpretation. And believe me you are not first to try to piece it together.

In verse 9, the psalmist adds further detail to this cry for revenge, claiming, “Happy is the one” who kills the infants of their enemy. The desire is graphically stated, but it is simply a call for the destruction of the entire nation—the nation that had enslaved the Jews, killed their babies, and destroyed their city. The destruction of Babylon was expressly foretold in -> Isaiah 13:16

...and by referencing that prediction, the psalmist may mean to say that the men who were God’s instruments in carrying out that prophecy would be happy in doing His will.

->Isaiah 13:16

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes,.... Upon the ground, or against the wall, as was foretold should be, Psalm 137:8
and in way of retaliation for what they did to the Jews, 2 Chronicles 36:17

and this was to be done "before their eyes", in the sight of the inhabitants, which must make it the more distressing and afflicting; and, as Kimchi observes, this phrase is to be applied to the following clauses:

their houses shall be spoiled; plundered of the substance, wealth, and riches in them, by the Persian soldiers:

and their wives ravished; by the same, and both before their eyes, and after that slain, in like manner as they had ravished the women in Zion, Lamentations 5:11

Even today, those who have lost loved ones at the hands of others understandably desire the death of those who committed the crime.

Love the fact your interpretation of the scripture was painting a picture that one group was better than other simply for the fact they didn't continue the practice. But Godly prophecies have atrocities, even if it is killing babies.

B. Love how you Godwin the whole thing at the end of you post for desperate emphases. Screams classy.

C. Abortion is only a sin if you abort while they are still in the womb. Once they are out its fair game. Drown them, beat them, starve them, eat them. Its all approved. This is how backwards it was then and YOU feel it is still now. Then...are you happy you are part of the republican party that cuts those social nets after the child is born?

The bible is riddled with death (yes even children's death) and abortion.
It was recorded then and according to you it happens now.
Welcome to the real world.
(oh why did you just take one written example when there were so many more...)
