I find both bakery items to be quite enjoyable. My breakdown of these titans of the single serve dessert arena is as follows. Both can be out of this world. Both can be quite forgettable. In my experience it is the forgettable donut that I have been underwhelmed by, the least. Cupcakes tend to be accompanied by a joyous occasion. Rarely have I consumed an entire cupcake in full shame mode, donut are another story. Most donuts, I know it’s a bad choice and I proceed despite my better judgment.
If we compare the two at the pinnacle of culinary possibilities, I believe the winner is clear. The winner is the one that requires care, preparation and know-how. This of course, is the cupcake.
