I can't imagine the current rate a player can mash on a flux staff would ever break someone's client, far more spell effects are flying in raids, so my assumption is that you used to be able to spam it unbounded.

For the first year of EverQuest I was running a P200mmx with a Voodoo2 and 32megs of RAM.
I had to stare at the floor in Unrest or I legit would have about 2fps.
I think people are forgetting how AWFUL computers were 20 years ago, lol.
