I think the star man is Sauron, but memory wiped like Darth Revan from KotOR. Once he becomes evil again, he's gonna beat wanderlust out of hobbits and they become stationary. This happens in the geographical location that later becomes known as the Shire

No I didn't read the books I just read TvTropes a lot who knows

 

I haven't watched the episode yet but Halbrand is supposedly Sauron because the Numenoreans did imprison him on their island for a time and he corrupted them. The expedition was supposed to be the Faithful (to the Valar) but that glossed over for horsies and swords if we're doing all that right now
