I use the classic method you mentioned to keep it very easy. Here’s my spell set
1) expel undead
2) vampiric curse
3) hungry earth
4) beguile undead
5) call of bones / leach
6) rest the dead
7) feign death
8) gate
It’s really easy, especially with melee mobs
