In Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders defence AG did used to be more competitive than VQ … at least for my own experience as I was able to attend more raids - more happened in my available playtime. I think for most former AG VQ members the opposite is true. They get a lot of raids while I sleep!

You are correct. Aftermath had a downturn for a while. After the nerfs Aftermath went into a slump. This was when Riot was ascending to become the strongest guild on the server.
That is why the AG/Aftermath merger occurred. Aftermath was losing members, and no other guilds could compete with Riot. The reason why Azure Guard became Vanquish was because the leader of Azure Guard didn't want his guild tag to be used anymore with the merger. So we had to come up with a new guild name.
