Yes, indeed, I missed that point. I agree with you. Full-time education is first and foremost an opportunity for socialisation of the student and perhaps this will lead to a reduction in such cases. A person's socialisation is very important and if a student is not in contact with reality at least once a week it might just drive him/her crazy and affect his/her mental health. Also, students may indeed seek help with homework on the side of services such as this one: https://ca.edubirdie.com/homework-help just to free up time for more important or not-so-important tasks. Still, it seems to me that in today's world, especially with our pandemics, distance learning makes some sense, but should not be abused.
