Living a life of service for others. Generations before ours did it in much more terrible times. People layed down their lives so their grandkids or cousins great grand kids could maybe one day get a better life, job, education, whatever. Move to a better place. Worship their religion work in a science field instead of a cotton field, u know, whatever...
