We threw off the notion of "nobility" and "royalty" and chucked that garbage in the trash can of history where it belongs. Give yourself more credit, because your life has worth and you aren't just some filthy worthless peasant. If a Prime Minister deserves the option of armed protection, so do you. If a police officer's job is so dangerous he has to wear two guns to work for 8 hours a day, the folks who live there 24 hours a day deserve the ability to protect themselves. Our nation and our culture are founded on that idea, that all of us are created equal and have the same basic human rights. We either all turn 'em in, or none do.

So that's where I draw the line. You want a disarmed population? Yeah, I can see some merits, and I'm willing to compromise: Along with the public, you also disarm ALL police (special weapons and tactics teams included), you disarm ALL private bodyguards, all domestic-serving federal or law enforcement employees--that includes the Secret Service--as well as disarm the national guard when operating stateside except in training. No exceptions. None. You do that, okay, I'll hand in mine, as well. Otherwise, I regard such efforts as nothing more than another step towards trying to revert our republic to the natural human state of monarchy and haves- and have-nots, of masters and slaves. To that, I say, "No."
