WAUKESHA, Wis. —
A man accused of killing six people and injuring dozens more when he allegedly drove his SUV through a Christmas parade in Waukesha says he doesn't feel safe in jail.
Darrell Brooks, 40, of Milwaukee, was charged with 81 felony and two misdemeanor counts.
Brooks' mother told WISN 12 he sent her a letter saying he felt unsafe in the Waukesha County Jail.
His mother wouldn't share the letter but said Brooks wrote other inmates threatened him and his family.
Brooks' mother said he wrote about being called "stupid N-word from the guards" and added "one guard gave him the name Hollywood, always telling him to watch his back."
Brook's mom said her son wrote he heard a guard on the intercom say "He has friends who work in the prison system and he's going to be killed."
Brooks has pleaded not guilty to all 83 counts.
