Highly recommend you try it, if it doesn't work you're out less than 200 bucks.
I started doing in like 3-4 years ago and it completely changed my life. I went from a 260lb slob to a guy with veins everywhere and abs.
Skating is predominately legs and core, so I would suggest doing skating and then maybe dumbbells for the upper body. Add swimming on top of that to really go super saiyan.
