Minimum wage is ridic low in some states

That being said being entitled to a “living wage” factors things that are far outside of a particular companies responsibility. Companies cannot control the cost of living for a person

Nor is there a rule that a wage to support oneself comfortably is everyone’s inalienable right. Your wage is a negotiation between the skillset you have to offer and how much an employer values that skillset relative to other choices they have. Nothing more, nothing less

It is NOT an employer’s job to make sure someone can comfortably live alone when flipping burgers at McDonald’s. That would be called charity
