False, many empaths can control their empathy, there is even a type of empath that can channel their empathy to rage and in combat they are more savage, brutal and terrifying than sociopaths. They have an enhanced adrenal response to fear that is believed to deride from trauma and abuse.
Outside of combat they are empaths but during combat they are worse than psychopaths.
