Yeah 4 years of not being invaded defenity hurts them more than a full blown invasion with the threat of nuclear annihilations if anyone tries to stop him.

I will concede a 4 year prep time in order to arm to the teeth and train hard is potentially a booon. Was it all Trump tho? Or would say advice from Mattis around that loop or such have had more bearing?
The diplomats probably urged Ukraine to cool off and calm down. That would have been terrible advice.
Both administrations should have done a lot more before the actual invasion. If they cared to make Ukraine more tougher.
