WE is probably not used by native english speakers much because, in speaking, the actual word is shorter than the two letters. In german, "W" is a one-syllable-letter ("Weh") and "Y" is the long one (Ypsilon).

It never occured to me either though, that english speakers don't use that. Maybe some do [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
