I did the opposite lol...I leveled a dark elf necro to half way through level 59 and then swapped to Iksar because at the time I was guilded with Sesserdrix and he convensed me to got iksar. You will be disappointed at the lack of efficiency with other races I feel but if I were to choose another race other than Iksar then I guess it would be DE for the looks.
