Colonialism for all it's evils also greatly improved the quality of life in many areas for generations afterward. Most of the people who complain about it would never want to actually undo it's effects, because they'd inevitably want to keep all the good stuff that they presently enjoy.
Like, global illiteracy would be *way* higher without colonialism, perpetrated by all sorts of people. It's not all bad!
