CNN and NBC can afford all the legal council they need. They wouldn't pay this out if they didn't realize that they basically had to.
The idea that it was "nuisance money" kind of admits that they had no case, and would obviously lose on the merits.
Who cares how much he got? The fact he got anything at all kind of admits fault on the part of CNN.
