Neocon is a word largely invented by the American media (mostly in the Bush era). Neoliberal is a word that was used in political science and economics all over the world before it was picked up by some media members.
So a lot of neocons can be called neoliberals as well. It's part of the whole American mind fuck -- where liberal economics is called "conservative" here, liberal everywhere else in the world.
The market is not a conservative force. Its a radical transformative force that changes traditional structures frequently ("disruption" is the buzzword). If there is something you want to conserve in American society -- chances are the market isn't gonna help you in the long run.
Neocon seems to just be a euphemism for imperialist these days. It used to also suggest the Christian Right platform -- but they are losing sway and its really not a coherent package for the public. At least for my generation and later. There is actually a lot of evidence that the Christian Right did lasting harm to both Republicans and Christian popularity.
