Lol. Religion is the reason why aliens DONT talk to us. Christians have already declared that any life not from earth is demonic and of satan or whatever. Aliens are tools of the devil, apparently. Even if its a non-carbon based life form and they know NOTHING about it, they will react with hostility and violence. They killed their own gods son, on purpose, and now celebrate eating his dead body in the form of crackers and wine.
Now if someone said "over there, they do that shit" i wouldnt go. I'd turn it into glass.
