Hey young lady,

I'm sorry to hear about your foot I hope it gets better soon! Sadly enough it is true that normally the average stay for any ER visit can range from 4 to 8 hours, unless you are in a rural area with a low population. Our hospital ER averages 75,000 visits a calendar year at the moment.

You are right about one thing, when we base who gets seen, its pretty much based on who could die without being seen immediately.

The way we have always explained to the patients, the longer you wait out in the waiting room, the better it is for you, because if we rushed you back immediately your ass is almost dead.

Most people think the ER is this magic place to get fixed for anything, however its not till i'm dragging a dead body from a car past the waiting room they realize their toothache/rash/flu/cough/std can wait forever.
