What I would like to know is What Biden was told by the "Intelligence Community" and if his previous pronouncements that Kabul would hold were lifted verbatim? Where in the chain the optimistic lies were coming from. If the rosy story was the military's, the corruption that got us into that war is still there or something new has replaced it. In my opinion this would totally vindicate Biden, as it would prove he and all executives were literally being gaslit and pulling the plug was the best direct control he had as Executive. It warrants a Congressional inquiry for sure.
It's probably much more likely that even Raytheon was finally ready to pull out, and the dust kicking up is just political hitjobbery. And the prognosis that the Taliban would be "held back" and the Afghans would sustain a prolonged civil war in our absence just to make us feel better was just egotistical stupidity top to bottom. Still a good Biden speech tho!
