I kind of feel bad for your brother. There really isn't a harder or deeper mmorpg in existence. Trust me, I've played pretty much all of them... this is kind of what I do. EMUs are where the very best gamers in the entire world are congregating now, and there will be legends made here.
There are a few elements that Everquest is missing, such as unconsentual pvp and a true skill-based leveling system (such as evidenced in Darkfall or Oblivion), both of which I feel add a massive amount of excitement and playability... however, the unparalleled depth of Everquest more than makes up for the lack of these two mechanics.
And WoW is just Everquest for Complete Idiots. I don't really consider people who play WoW to actually be gamers. They are more potential gamers who badly need to be awakened.
