Stupid thought exercise. Lone man shouldn't be in the fucking road. No reason to swerve and regulations would ensure a one lane road isn't navigable by two cars running opposing directions simultaneously somehow devoid of the ability to brake, or see past a clipping plane of 50ft. You gotta make that road super foggy with 10% visibility while driving at 55mph for it to have applicability to reality, and then, why would the vehicles be going that fast with such shitty visibility and clipping planes? The design of the program navigating, would be at fault in that example, and the stupid programmers that let the car drive faster than it can "see."
The only way in which this scenario could be applied if in some outlandishly contrived situation that goes against the constraints of practicality.
