Honestly, the best thing you can do is just say "hey man, if you wanna get started i'll twink you out and set you up with titanium - i'd love for us to play together again" and leave it at that unless he wants to talk about it further.
Even if you convince people to play, if they really don't have any desire to play they won't last long or really have fun doing it.
