I checked my logs from while I was camping beads and Coitis was present in zone for all 55+ hours from start to finish. He was there when I got there and still there when I left. My client does a /who query every time I press left or right, so I have a lot of /who log data. Most people either left the zone at some point before I did, or arrived after I did.
