In my WoW time I have been raid leader a lot, and I have led a lot of different people. I have also participated in raids as just a member as well.

One important thing I have learned is that if the raid leader is weak, strong players will still shine, but the weaker players will fail. If the raid leader is strong, even the weak will shine.
I have seen some raid teams pull off some amazing feats against considerable odds because of strong leaders and strong players, even with weak players on board.

but I am not talking raids here, I am talking your run of the mill every day 5 man dungeon runs, be it regular or heroic, guild groups, pick up groups, you name it. Some people just have problems following orders, paying attention, or playing their character with a hint of intelligence. Those are the WoW players I grew tired of dealing with.
