It works better than ever. Fake news flys by at the speed of light in the corner if your eyeballs on facebook ETC and you don't waste time processing it, but you sort of remember "some bullshit those fucking idiots said" and that was the whole purpose. Doesn't matter if its true, or whatever.

It just shapes your reality and your feelings about things enough to make a difference. 2% shift is all that is needed to win an election, and this stuff works perfectly in the digital age.

Same thing happens in movies. It shows a "bad guy" or group of "bad guys" murdering a woman, and then a cop saying "ahh man, those bad guys, we'll get that scum"

So the film SAYS "these are bad guys" but what it really does it let you know that "women are not safe".

Doesn't matter if the act is condemned or is perpetrated by the worst person they could create in the fictional world. It happens constantly and the result and intent is not aligned with the overt purpose of the film "we like to show bad guys get taken down" thats not the actual point.

I don't know about you but violently storming the Capitol to prevent the peaceful transfer of power and install a demagogue as president for life sounds pretty bad guyish to me.
