I'm an American who moved to the Netherlands a few years ago. Prior to moving I didn't really give a shit about soccer. But living here makes it's fun. Especially in an event like this Euro 2020 tournament. It's bigger than anything you get from US sports. Different countries with all sorts of nutty history competing, so there's all sorts of pride/anger involved. All my neighbors have their Dutch flags flying, people wearing orange everything. It's fun, especially as an American pseudo spectator.
It's not the most exciting sport. Hell I prefer American football. But it has its moments, and you work with what you got. Watching Ronaldo jump 8.5 feet in the air and score a header is a thing of beauty.
I think the diving is dumb as fuck too. With all the instant replay these days I think they should be penalizing the fuck out of it. But to get all worked up and saydumb shit like it's not a sport, it ruins everything, or they're not athletes is just silly. Like all sports, it has parts I like, and parts I don't like. It's really not that big of a deal.

yeah my mommy made me play this may pole dance activity when I was a baby too, I just grew out of it.
It's one thing to say that soccer is a good sport, but the fact that everyone who says that also defends flopping just shows that it's not a good sport.
