oh then it absolutely matter but what matters more, is how well you know the prof.
make friend, ask questions, show interest.
trust that they want good students but will move sky & earth to get you in if yo are motivated and curious they so desperately seek that.
It worked for me in philosophy but in the end i didn't pursue a master.
