55k is fairly run of the mill for income throughout the US. Look at the median wage in the Bay Area

In 2018, the median family income was roughly $108,000 in the Oakland-Fremont Metro and $121,000 in the San Francisco Metro for a family of four.

Considering this usually denotes two earners, figure 55 to 60k/year.

This would be what we call the "proletariat" class. Proliteriats aren't former convicts with addiction problems and a spotty employment history at best. Hope this helps.
