Yes, they stop the bigger particles that some people spray out of their mouths when they breath, talk, sneeze... etc, effectively stopping the virus from traveling huge distances.

Literally is not concrete.
There is no study that proves or disproves mask efficacy against the spread of Sars-Cov-2. At best, we take the metadata of what we deem similar studies and postulate masks MIGHT help.
The CDC linked six studies regarding mask efficacy (a few months ago), two straight up say masks don't work, four say they did. All against other things, none of them against Sars-Cov-2.
