That's an important point you raise. What you perceive to be elective degeneracy, as someone lacking a persistent and debilitating conflict between your self concept and physical sex, is actually a life saving surgery. We're going to be at an impasse on this issue because you can't relate, due to lack of empathy, imagination or whatever reason. It's real, even if it's not for you.
