I would say that our Arrogance when it comes to discerning the nature of intelligence in other lifeforms reflects our Arrogance in the discerning the nature or caliber of intelligence of our ancestors, as well. But, I suppose if one thinks they've arrived at absolute knowledge, everyTHING and everyONE else is a stupid cretin, or Cretan.
