MMOs, and especially EQ (imo) are community based and community driven games. It's not so much about the pixels as it is the people behind the pixels. People have reputations here, and they really matter. Or should :/

If I make a friend and spend months hanging out in game and getting to know them, it sucks when one day I /tell them to discover that no longer know me. Likewise, if at some point in my character's life I'm mercilessly harassed (CC'd for no reason, tracked down and PK'd in every zone I try to lns to, scammed for what few items I have..) by someone, I would like to always be able to dislike them for that reason. If I discovered that the character had been sold, and now my most hated enemy had become kind and friendly, I would be distraught.

Guess I'm something of a roleplayer sorta. Is that a wrong way to play this game? The powergamers who only care about raiding, gear and using said gear to PK the rest of us may not care if people sell characters, but I want something more from this game.

What's so bad about buying coin for rl cash if they allow people to purchase characters? All the coin farmers do is cause inflation, which happens anyway. Players like me will always be poor compared to people that spend their time farming and playing the market, so a little more inflation brought about by chinese sweatshops hardly makes a difference. imo ofc
I don't really dig this. It's like saying YOU want the person behind the character to always be the same, so that's how it should be. As if the fact that I spend all this time leveling up a character and then decide I want to play something else is irrelevant, because of YOUR expectations for that character.
