Yeah the phrase was also very popular in the 80's. Personally I don't see why people have decided to embrace it once again. Most obvious connotation of it is that being gay is something negative. Does everyone that use the phrase actually think this? Of course not. But it just helps legitimize things for the actual bigots.

There are many scary people out there filled with all sorts of hatred towards people that are different and I bet they love the fact that the use of words like fag and ni##er are so widespread once again. Why anyone would want to get confused with these types of people is beyond me. Basically it shows a lack of imagination; there are so much more interesting and unique ways to insult people using the english language. People are just lazy.

I'm sure somebody is going to try and bash me now for what I just wrote but whatever. Web forum popularity contests really aren't my thing. Maybe if I was a teenager.
