I never could understand it, how someone could spend like $200 on something and just throw it away.

I do stuff like that all the time. Whenever you meet a kid or a noob in a game after you’ve played it for awhile you start to get a lot more satisfaction out of seeing other people enjoy things for the first time than you would ever get out of what you’ve had for months, especially if it’s a kid that’s new to the game. Bonus points if they already admire you.
