Yeah, core strength is important too, cant just focus on the calves or that muscle on the front of ur thigh or one muscle or your going to be so sorry lol.

When I was running a lot i was doing a fullll body weight routine with squats, and all kinds of other stuff i cant even describe like at football practice were u crab walk side ways and lunges, butt kicks, yoga circles with my legs in every direction.
Yeah core strength is often overlooked. My soccer coach who used to be on mexico's national team incorporated those scissor leglift routines for a solid 5 minutes into his warmup exercises.

In freshman year, I had a resting six-pack while sitting down,. Observed in disbelief by colleagues in my freshman year of weight training, while able to supine leg press 800lbs; more than the 250+ lb linebackers on the football team. Could full sprint a mile in just under 4 minutes. I had more of an antelope stride, though, which isn't very conducive to dribbling a soccer ball, so I played center defense; a position where being outran cannot be a possibility. I did run across a Mexican kid on an opposing team who had the whole rapid piston style of running down pat though, and he was almost able to outrun me. His team ended up getting suspended from the league when their "fans" erupted from the bleachers wanting to fight us, after I slid tackle-trapped the ball into his fast moving legs a few too many times to their liking. It was a legit play though. Never made any contact with his legs directly; he just couldn't stop tripping over the ball.
