We *do* help the underclass. There have been literally billions of dollars allocated to helping the underclass for decades, and there still are. A glaringly obvious fundamental question that nobody ever seems to want to answer in america, is why black families *prior* to the civil rights act were doing much better than black families today. This is true by any cursory reading of the data. If racism is the primary, or even a significant barrier in modern american society, shouldn't they have been doing worse prior to the 1960's civil rights breakthroughs, which I hope we can all agree were the definition of actual progress? The (far) left is demanding that all demographics end up with the same outcome, which is fundamentally impossible to ever achieve, and they will never cease to cite differences in outcome as being synonymous with some kind of systemic unfairness, when there are a billion other variables to consider.
