He made his fortune on PayPal. Hobnobbing with bankers & regulators. Then built a cult of personality around his "intellect" and doing a physics undergraduate. His neuroscience startup is a scam. He breeds em and leaves em. Grimes is clearly very sad; she's been hollowed out with an ice cream scoop like his previous breeding sows. He tweets & signals without regard to his position and without considering his influence and the people it affects. He fired people for following state lockdown orders. He's downplayed the pandemic repeatedly. He's pumped TSLA into the "largest car company" by market cap, via sheer hype conning retail investors, just to collect his performance tranches and walk off with huge amounts of money. He's a brilliant con artist, but in the end just another of our crappy billionaire tech grifters. In the right place at the right time in the late 90s, so now he's got a big ass fief not unlike Bookstore Guy.
He's no Bill Gates. A true illuminatus engineer to be proud of.
Yes, I am glad there is money being used for zany tech ideas and that he didn't put it all into champagne and country estates. But again, Big Man Gates and Paul Allen set that precedent. If you aren't irritated by his con it's prolly cuz you bought it. I like real geniuses and am triggered by fakes, particularly ones who are transparently very sad and empty and who harbor vicious political views. i'd compare him with Howard Hughes, but he has no demonstrated balls (he hasn't ridden one of his own rockets yet no?)
