AKA democracy. It's not perfect but it's pros outweigh the cons. Tyranny of majority is a pretty lame argument for the EC usefulness when a con of the EC is legitimized minority rule.
Instead of paying attention to the majority of voters, they pay attention to swing states, and the ever important Iowa primary. Whoopty fucken doo? Why are ever shifting swing states and Iowa the place to be? Why do they get so much weight in deciding elections while states with tens of millions of people, like Cali or Texas, are basically ignored.
EC is a relic of a former era. Over half of states nullify faithless elector votes, castrating the EC's original intent and power. When a majority of states have already decided not to let the EC circumvent votes, why does it exist? Just kill it already.
