The african american population in the US is considerably poorer than the population of african *immigrants* currently living in america. I doubt anyone is going to argue that people born in west africa have some kind of leg up compared to african americans born in america in the modern day, because that would be a totally incoherent argument. At some point the left needs to honestly address the element of american black culture that glorifies violence and castigates educational achievement if they actually want to improve conditions for black americans and not just regurgitate nice-sounding lip service.
And no it's not racist to point this out, scores of black academics already do, and it's also a very specific issue with *young* black men. It's not an issue with older black men nor young or old black women. People who claim to advocate for "racial justice" are so neurotically unable to criticize elements of american black culture that are directly detrimental to black populations and I have little hope that they'll ever grow enough of a spine to do so.
